CHARACTERISTICS
The choice of the balls is determining in the course of the matches and defined by the objectives to be reached :
• To clear an opponent's ball.
• To roll a ball to the back of the court.
• Position a strategic ball that is difficult to move.
• Use a fine or adapted ball texture for an optimal throw.
• ...
There are as many possibilities as there are game situations.
That's why we present you the main lines to choose your balls... to refine with your own experiences on the field of course !
HARDNESS
The main characteristic of a Boccia ball is its density.
The harder a ball is, the more its power is preserved. It can clear an opponent's ball or roll to the end of the court.
The softer a ball is, the less it rolls, so it will be more difficult for the opponent to dislodge a well placed ball.
Boccia games are composed of 6 pairs of balls and a Jack. Each pair consists of 1 red ball and 1 blue ball of the same density, i.e. 6 different hardnesses maximum per game.
MATERIAL
After hardness, the cover is another important characteristic.
Where the thickness and the grain of the leather bring more or less fine sensations to the player, a velvet material brings a formidable grip to the ball.
A smoother surface provides an extremely smooth ball flight, ideal for ramp or footwork.
COLOR
Finally come the colors !
Boccia balls are imperatively Blue, Red and White for the Jack. Some of them are darker than others, but this has no impact on the game and even allows you to find your balls more quickly during matches.
MARKING ON BALLS
The engravings allow to have initials or a small logo on its balls of Boccia, that facilitates the location of its balls after a game and also limits the theft.
The engraving is monochrome and durable.
